REPRESENTATIVES of Davao City’s 11 ethnolinguistic tribes for Hiyas sa Kadayawan 2026 champion tribal empowerment aimed at addressing pressing social, cultural, and environmental issues facing their respective indigenous and Moro communities. The 11 Hiyas were officially sashed and presented to the media on Thursday, July 30 at Waterfront Insular Hotel here. Abinal emphasized the oral literature here in Davao City has been in the background so there is a need to touch the younger generation. The Hiyas sa Kadayawan 2026 winner will receive ₱200,000, while ₱150,000 awarded to Hiyas sa Panaghiusa and ₱100,000 to Hiyas sa Kalambuan. The cultural presentation will be on Aug. 9 at SM City Davao, while the coronation ceremony will be on Aug. 13 at USEP Gymnasium & Cultural Center, Obrero, Davao City.
