Bengaluru: A 41-year-old man was arrested by the Avalahalli police for allegedly stealing gold ornaments worth over Rs 1 crore belonging to a US-based doctor from a marriage hall on Old Madras Road in Bengaluru's Bidarahalli area. The accused, a resident of Bidarahalli near Kadugodi, was arrested on July 8 at a marriage hall near Katamnallur Cross. Police recovered around 340 grams of gold ornaments and a car allegedly used in the crime, with the total value of the seized items estimated at around Rs 47 lakh. A few of the gold ornaments which the accused had sold and pledged at two jewellery shops in Hoskote have been recovered. He sold most of the stolen gold ornaments to arrange money for online games and gambling.”
