MSI has published new testing showing that its motherboard BIOS High-Efficiency Mode can reduce the latency of standard DDR5-6000 EXPO memory to nearly the same level as a factory-programmed AMD EXPO Ultra Low Latency kit.
Using a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, an MSI B850MPOWER motherboard and two 32GB G.Skill kits, MSI measured 79.4ns latency for conventional DDR5-6000 CL30 memory with High-Efficiency Mode disabled.
The EXPO ULL kit produced 71.4ns in its normal profile and 71.1ns with High-Efficiency Mode enabled.
This matters because EXPO ULL modules currently command unusually high prices in a constrained DRAM market.
