GRAND FORKS — Grand Forks County could have to cut at least $836,000, not including possible wage raises for county employees, to get the 2027 budget down to the maximum cap for property tax levy increases. County commissioners discussed potential budget options on Tuesday during a special budget work session, including potential cuts, health insurance increases and employee wage increases. The wage increases include COLAs for employees like the commissioners and 5% wage increases for the sheriff, city administrator and state’s attorney. Commissioners agreed to hold another special budget meeting either Monday or Tuesday next week to discuss insurance plan options. Some county employees spoke toward the end of the meeting, with some mentioning the impacts of the 30% reductions.
