GRAND FORKS — In July, the steady hum of lawnmowers is as much a part of life in Grand Forks as baseball games, playgrounds and afternoons along the Greenway. What appears to be one citywide effort is actually a coordinated partnership between the Grand Forks Park District, city departments, private contractors, businesses and homeowners. Together, these groups keep Grand Forks looking maintained throughout the summer. Rather than maintaining a large fleet of mowing equipment, Grand Forks contracts much of its mowing work to private companies. Spanning roughly 2,200 acres, the Greenway crosses property maintained by the Grand Forks Park District, the City of Grand Forks and the City of East Grand Forks.
