KARACHI – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Karachi from the evening of August 1 through August 2 under the influence of a developing weather system. The PMD said that a strong low-pressure system that formed over the Bay of Bengal has maintained its intensity and is currently positioned over India’s Madhya Pradesh as a deep depression. Under the influence of the system, intermittent rainfall is expected from the evening or night of July 31 until August 2 in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mithi, Sanghar and Hyderabad. For Karachi, the PMD has predicted light to moderate rain between the evening of August 1 and August 2. However, it said there is currently no likelihood of heavy downpours in the city from this weather system.
