GLASGOW – Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem secured a place in the men’s javelin throw final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after finishing seventh in the qualification round with a best effort of 78.63 metres.
Pakistan’s Yasir Sultan missed out on a place in the final after finishing 14th with a best throw of 74.36 metres.
Arshad will enter the final as the defending Commonwealth Games champion.
At the 2022 edition, he produced a historic throw of 90.18 metres to win the gold medal, setting new Commonwealth Games and Pakistan national records.
The achievement also made him the first South Asian athlete to breach the 90-metre barrier in the men’s javelin throw.
