Also taking one’s breath away was President Donald Trump’s speech at the library’s July 1 dedication, a speech that vacillated between ignorance about Roosevelt, our 26th president, and rambling incoherence. Trump’s speech meandered wildly like the Little Missouri River running through the park. The library dedicates an entire room to the speech, a speech Trump did not mention, likely would not understand, and certainly could never emulate. If only we could have cropped Trump and his speech out of the dedication of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.
