Does the U.S. need a $1.5 trillion defense budget?

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is asking Congress for a record amount of money, $1.5 trillion, as the U.S.-Israel war with Iran continues. CHAKRABARTI: We will talk about that $1.5 trillion proposed Pentagon budget, that's the proposal from the Trump administration, a little later in the show. North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis told The Hill about Secretary Hegseth that, quote, "He's got a massive insecurity complex. CHAKRABARTI: So let me follow up on that because as you said, Democrats had asked Secretary Hegseth about that. They get about half of the Pentagon budget, and they stand to benefit tremendously from this budget going up.
