The Hamburg Express, with a gross tonnage of about 229,000 and a length of around 399 metres, is expected to arrive at London Gateway Port at about 1pm on Tuesday, August 4, after sailing from Tangier.
During its stay, thousands of containers are expected to be loaded and discharged, underlining London Gateway’s growing role as a key stop for some of the biggest ships afloat and a major hub for UK imports and exports.
London Gateway is a deep-sea container port on the River Thames at Stanford-le-Hope in Thurrock, around 25–30 miles east of central London.
Opened in 2013, it forms part of the wider Port of London and combines a highly automated container terminal with one of Europe’s largest logistics parks.
The port is designed to handle the world’s biggest container ships and offers direct road and rail links for fast access to markets across the UK and beyond.
