Global infrastructure firm Aecom has been selected by ANA Aeroportos de Portugal, which is part of Vinici Airports group, to deliver the preliminary design for New Lisbon Airport (Luis de Camões Airport). The international travel hub is set to replace the city’s existing Humberto Delgado Airport, which has limited expansion potential. The new airport site is located in the municipalities of Benavente and Montijo and partially occupys the existing Alcochete firing range, across the Tagus River from Lisbon. Aecom is now working with local Portuguese partners to deliver the initial phase of design development, providing a full range of technical, design and project management services. The new project builds on Aecom’s recent aviation projects, which include Boston Logan International Airport in the USA, Kuwait International Airport and Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima in Peru.
