My brief time with Gears of War: E-Day’s Multiplayer Network Test brought me right back to the glory days of Xbox 360, particularly 2006, when 13-year-old me got my hands on the original Gears of War for the first time. My two-day stint with Gears of War: E-Day consisted of two maps across two game modes, Horde Siege and Conquest Escalation. Now, I haven’t seriously played Horde mode since Gears of War 2, but as a long-retired achievement hunter, I felt right at home in E-Day’s new take on the mode. Objectives in Horde Siege include protecting and powering up the R.I.G, which acts as your centralized beacon, eventually culminating in an extraction sequence for your squad. In closing, even with only a few hours under my belt, I can say with confidence that Gears of War fans and newcomers alike will have a lot to look forward to when Gears of War: E-Day launches this fall in October.
