An Ofsted inspection of Aycliffe Secure Services in Newton Aycliffe found children's experiences and progress, education, health, and help and protection were all judged "good", although leadership and management still "requires improvement to be good". Education was again rated good, with inspectors finding most children make "substantial progress" from their starting points. Health services also retained a good rating, with inspectors praising comprehensive assessments and targeted interventions that help improve children's wellbeing and engagement in education. Responding to the findings, Durham County Council's cabinet member for children and young people's services, Cllr Cathy Hunt, said: "We’re pleased that Ofsted has found Aycliffe Secure Services to be ‘Good’ overall, with children's experiences and progress, education, health, and help and protection all judged as ‘Good.’
