Darlington College arts student Emma Price is on an Olympic pathway to the 2032 Games in Brisbane.
The 19-year-old, from Newton Aycliffe, was offered a place at California State University, Fresno, to study criminology and criminal profiling, so she could also develop her swimming.
But the course she was studying at college last year wasn’t recognised in America, and Darlington College had to step in to help with an arts course that is officially recognised.

“My mum Cheryl was a detective, and I’m interested in criminal profiling to try and catch serial killers,” added the teenager.
