Nate Powell, a former mixed martial artist and Marine Corps veteran, is running for Washington state’s Fifth Congressional District under an independent ticket. Powell said his most important policy would be to prioritize labor protections for American workers. “Medicare for All would save this country money.” Powell believes in a secure but flexible border and immigration system that efficiently tracks who enters the country, so immigrants can contribute to our nation legally. Although he is running as an independent, which could make it more difficult to win, Powell believes it is worth the additional challenge.
