Armenia has been elected vice-chair of the 2027 session of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee, which is scheduled to be held in Istanbul. According to Armenia's Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, during the committee session held in Busan, Republic of Korea, from July 19 to 29, Armenia was elected chair of the 2027 session of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee. Armenia's delegation, a member of the committee, was led by Aram Hakobyan, Armenia's Permanent Representative to UNESCO. The delegation also included officials from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Environment, and national experts. As a result of the session, 25 new cultural and natural heritage sites were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
