Domaine Lafage has completed the acquisition of the Groupement Interproducteurs Collioure Banyuls (GICB), taking control of one of the largest wine businesses in southern France after approval from the Perpignan High Court. The business will be renamed Terrasses Vermeilles, bringing together almost 500 winegrowers farming around 500 hectares of vineyards across the Banyuls and Collioure appellations. Jean-Marc Lafage, owner and winemaker at Domaine Lafage, said: “Today is not about victory, but about responsibility.” Domaine Lafage also intends to retain the expertise of GICB’s workforce during the transition, describing employees as “an invaluable asset” whose experience will be essential to the business’s future.
