Brown via trade have presumably made Boutte the odd man out, despite having become a reliable weapon for Drake Maye to work with over the last two years. Although Brown and Doubs have now leapfrogged him, it hasn't stopped Boutte from remaining Maye's top option during training camp so far. That makes it easy to suggest that Boutte stay in New England for the 2026 season, and maybe even beyond that. If that continues, trading Boutte makes even less sense, and it might be fair to assume that Maye is purposely trying to show just how important he is so far in training camp. It's something they should take seriously before moving Boutte just for the sake of moving him.
