ABUJA — Woro, an agrarian community situated in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, has been plunged into fresh panic following chilling new threats from terrorists holding 176 local residents hostage. In propaganda video footage circulated by the armed gang, masked commanders threatened to execute male captives and forcibly marry abducted female victims if their ransom and operational demands were not met. “We will marry the beautiful ones among them and kill the rest if our demands are not urgently addressed.” Critics contend that executive attention has shifted heavily toward political calculations and early election strategy, leaving border communities in states like Kwara and Niger exposed to well-armed non-state actors. Community leaders in Kwara State have urged security agencies to deploy immediate tactical reinforcements to the forest corridors bordering Niger State and Benin Republic to locate the encampment and secure the release of the 176 captives before the terrorists execute their threats.
