Spearheaded by college hockey commissioners, the proposal received widespread support from college basketball and soccer coaches as well as coaches at the service academies. Albeit a compromise, it was a win celebrated collectively by the college hockey world. The 21-, 22-year-old player that was able to come in through junior hockey, three years of junior hockey, and still have that four or five years of eligibility is just no longer.
