Uganda and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral health cooperation, with senior government officials, NHS leaders, diaspora health professionals and global health partners convening in Kampala for the 2nd Uganda–UK Health Summit. The summit, held in partnership with the British High Commission Kampala and the Uganda Ministry of Health, focused on expanding long-term institutional partnerships, improving health systems, strengthening the healthcare workforce and increasing investment in Uganda’s health sector. Delegates explored opportunities for greater private sector investment in Uganda’s health sector and discussed the future of global health cooperation, epidemic preparedness and South-to-North knowledge exchange. Nimisha Madhvani, Uganda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, and Dr Charles Ayume, Uganda’s State Minister for Health. Health professionals in Uganda and the UK learn from one another, and that exchange runs in both directions,” Simms said.
