Planned industrial action by TSSA members was expected to cause major disruption across the West Midlands Railway (WMR) network this weekend, including full cancellations and reduced timetables. Strikes were due to take place on Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1, but have now been suspended, allowing normal service to resume. A limited timetable was expected to operate on the Cross City Line (four trains per hour), Wolverhampton to Walsall via Birmingham New Street (two trains per hour), and Rugeley Trent Valley to Birmingham International (two trains per hour). The union said the strikes were because West Midlands Trains and the Department of Transport have repeatedly failed to fulfil an assurance of improving rest working day agreements.
