David Hughes, of Meadow Orchard, Broadway, near Evesham, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court, sitting in Redditch, on Monday (July 27) for attempting to arrange or facilitate the offence of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. The 77-year-old tried to arrange to get a seven-year-old girl to perform a sexual act on him between October and November 2023 in Worcester. He denied this in court, but was found guilty in June following a trial. At sentencing, Hughes was jailed for four years by Recorder Michael Burrows. He was also ordered to pay £4,830 in costs and a £228 surcharge by the end of October.
