Hunter07/30/26The University of Iowa Center for Intellectual Freedom has decided to pause classes until 2028. Interim director Luciano de Castro said the Center will host a fall lecture series focused on the 250th anniversary of the United States and the upcoming midterm election. Interest in the Center’s classes was low, with only 21 of the 64 available seats filled for two one-credit courses offered in the spring semester. The center’s advisory board decided it would be in their best interest to have a permanent director build the curriculum. Regents previously said they hope to hire a permanent director by the end of this year.
