The Sturgeon man accused of the shooting death of his father last year is set for a jury trial in October. 33-year-old Dalton Perkins will go on trial the morning of Oct. 7, charged with second-degree murder, domestic assault, and armed criminal action. Perkins is accused of shooting his father Steve after an argument outside their house in northern Boone County the evening of May 3, 2025. Dalton pleaded not guilty to updated charges in November after a grand jury indictment. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for the morning of Sept. 21 in Boone County Circuit Court.
