The Czech Interior Ministry has closed administrative proceedings against football club Slavia Prague over crowd violence during May's Prague derby against Sparta, concluding that no further sanctions are necessary. The ministry found serious shortcomings in the club's security arrangements but said measures introduced by Slavia, together with penalties imposed by the League Football Association, were sufficient. Slavia had faced the possibility of playing home matches behind closed doors for up to a year. Following the incidents, in which supporters invaded the pitch, attacked Sparta players and threw flares into the away section, Slavia was fined CZK 10 million and ordered to play four matches without spectators. The club has since tightened security, including a ban on face coverings and pyrotechnics, and has issued lifetime stadium bans to the fans involved.
