The European Commission has approved changes to Czechia's state aid scheme for energy-intensive industries, allowing the government to increase support for companies facing high electricity costs linked to the EU emissions trading system. Under the revised scheme, the maximum share of eligible costs that can be compensated will rise from 75 to 80 percent. More industrial sectors will also become eligible for the support. According to the Commission, the changes comply with EU state aid rules and are intended to help energy-intensive industries remain competitive while preventing production from moving to countries with less stringent climate regulations.
