At a council scrutiny committee meeting, on Monday July 28, members heard the local authority has been carrying out more inspections of other schools, in light of the discovery at Crindau Primary. Crindau Primary School in Newport was closed after investigations found structural issues within the school building. Newport City Council said the school had been deemed "structurally unsafe for learning" following inspections carried out over the February half-term break. This is not the first Newport school to experience major building safety concerns. Millbrook Primary School, where structural problems forced pupils to relocate while plans progressed for a new school.
