Scott Thomas, 33, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing a Ring doorbell in Caldicot and a circular saw worth £30 from Lidl in Chepstow. The offences took place on October 19 last year and April 29 respectively, Newport Magistrates' Court was told. In addition, Thomas admitted failing to surrender to custody at the same court on March 20 after being released on bail. The court heard Thomas has a “disregard for court orders, previous convictions and the offences were committed on a conditional discharge and community order”. He was ordered to pay £80 compensation in relation to the stolen Ring doorbell and £30 to Lidl for the saw.
