Betsi, a two-woman production telling the story of Betsi Cadwaladr, will premiere at Newport’s Riverfront Theatre on August 20 before heading to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Produced by the Newport-based Her Story Theatre Company, the play shines a spotlight on the life and legacy of the often-overlooked nurse. Clare Drewett, a Newport actor who stars as Betsi, said: "We are so excited to be representing our home city in Edinburgh. "It has always been a dream of mine to perform at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and playing Betsi is an absolute joy and honour. "We will probably be among the oldest actors to debut at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and we are delighted to be representing an older woman at the prestigious venue of The Surgeon’s Hall.
