The UK Government’s Jobs Guarantee is a £1 billion youth employment initiative providing fully funded, six-month paid jobs alongside wraparound employability support. It targets 18 to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit for 18 months, aiming to support over 90,000 young people. In July 2025, there were 768,000 people aged 16 to 24 on universal credit. Mrs Fookes said: “Great to visit Itec in Abergavenny and see the fantastic work they’re doing to support young people into employment. “The new UK Government’s Jobs Guarantee is currently being piloted here and will help more young people into work by guaranteeing eligible 18 to 24-year-olds a fully funded, six-month paid job.
