Michael Caine, of Pod 11, Nexus House, Mission Court, Newport, appeared in Newport Crown Court today, July 29, for criminal damage, recklessly endangering life and destroying/damaging property of an unknown value. Caine was convicted under the Criminal Damage Act 1971 for unlawfully damaging the interior of the property, including fixtures, fittings, and contents, with an estimated value ranging from £20,000 to £40,000. The damage was found to be reckless as to whether it would endanger the lives of neighbouring residents. Despite the severity of the offence, Caine was given a 12-month conditional discharge in a sentencing hearing heard at Newport Crown Court today, July 29. The court heard that he was already receiving significant support for ongoing personal issues, and it was considered inappropriate to impose a prison sentence.
