The woman suffered a bleed behind her eye after the “ugly incident” in which she was assaulted by Ben Horgan in her Risca home. Bethan Evans, prosecuting, told Cardiff Crown Court: “He punched her to her face on two occasions. “She said this was completely unexpected and she was knocked to the ground before the defendant kicked her to the side of the face.” The judge, Recorder Greg Bull KC, told Horgan: “This was a serious offence of violence. “Your victim suffered serious injuries to her which are irreversible.”
