Wilson Airport has reopened its main runway for daytime flight operations after nearly six months of rehabilitation works, bringing relief to airlines that had been forced to adjust operations following its closure.

The reopening also comes weeks after Members of Parliament intensified pressure on the Kenya Airports Authority to fast-track infrastructure upgrades at Wilson Airport.
Lawmakers said Wilson Airport had come under increased public scrutiny following a series of aviation incidents and crash landings in recent months, raising concerns over safety standards, airport infrastructure and overall operations.
