LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the construction of 800 additional mini dams in the Potohar region over the next three years as part of the provincial government’s strategy to improve rainwater harvesting, conserve water resources and strengthen agricultural sustainability. The approval was given during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister on Wednesday regarding the transformation of agriculture and water management in Punjab. Officials briefed the meeting that 110 mini dams had already been completed across the province under the government’s ongoing water preservation initiative. During the meeting, officials presented photographic evidence of recently completed mini dams in Attock, Talagang, Gujar Khan and Rawalpindi. The chief minister reviewed Punjab’s security situation and called for a comprehensive strategy to eliminate serious crimes.
