The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a deep depression over West-Central Chhattisgarh and adjoining Vidarbha and Southeast Madhya Pradesh, coupled with a vigorous southwest monsoon, is driving heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across the State. An Orange Alert has been sounded for Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu and Kamareddy districts, where heavy to very heavy rainfall with gusty winds is expected. Heavy rainfall was also reported from several other northern districts, with the southwest monsoon remaining vigorous over Telangana.
