Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, has passed on. DAILY POST reports that Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance between 1990 and 1991 during the administration of former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida. He also served as Minister of State for Budget and Planning in 1988, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, and as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. A thoroughbred administrator, he held several other key positions in the civil service and corporate sector during his illustrious career. As the Sardaunan Sokoto, he held one of the most revered traditional titles in the Sokoto Caliphate.
