Ann Rainey (8th) announced her campaign for Evanston’s 2027 mayoral special election during a launch event Tuesday evening. Biss announced in June that he will resign Oct. 18, in time to trigger a spring 2027 special election. The winner of the special election will serve the remaining two years of Biss’ term, until 2029. If at least three candidates make it on the ballot, a primary election will be held Feb. 23.
