Kavinsky, the French producer, musician and DJ best known for his cult 2010 synthwave hit ‘Nightcall’, has died. According to a statement shared by French authorities, first responders found “no suspicious elements at the scene”, per Reuters. Following the release of early EPs ‘Teddy Boy’ and ‘1986’, Kavinsky released the ‘Nightcall’ EP in 2010, the title track of which featured prominently in the soundtrack for Nicolas Winding Refn’s neon-hued 2011 action-drama Drive, starring Ryan Gosling. The track’s success shot Kavinsky in the spotlight, and he released his debut album in 2013. He’d go on to tour with Daft Punk, Justice and The Rapture, and, in 2024, performed ‘Nightcall’ at the Summer Olympics closing ceremony in Paris.
