According to the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Displacement Tracking Matrix, 79 Yemeni families totaling 474 individuals were displaced between July 12 and 25 due to mounting security fears linked to military escalation in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and internal battlefronts.
Security concerns were the primary driver of displacement, accounting for 54% of cases in the last week, while economic hardship triggered 17 families to flee.
In the preceding week, security fears also dominated, causing 34 families to leave, compared to seven displaced by natural disasters and one due to economic conditions.
IOM data further showed that 58 families were displaced between July 5 and 11, raising the cumulative total since the start of 2026 to 1,458 families around 8,748 people.
The UN has warned that continued displacement will intensify pressure on host communities and further diminish prospects for peace, underscoring the urgent need to protect civilians and address the root causes of the conflict.
