Taiz — Residents discovered the body of a young man hanged inside Al-Ghannami Mosque in the Nashma area of Al-Ma’afer district, late Wednesday, in a tragic incident that has sparked widespread grief and shock among locals. Local sources told that the victim, who worked as a day laborer trading scrap materials, was the sole provider for his family amid worsening economic hardship. The tragedy comes against the backdrop of mounting psychological and social pressures linked to Yemen’s deepening humanitarian and economic crisis, which has driven widespread poverty and unemployment among youth. Taiz has witnessed three suicide cases this month alone. Earlier, young merchant Al-Zubairi was found hanged inside his shop in Al-Hasb after three days missing, followed a week later by another young man who took his life on 26 September Street, before Wednesday’s mosque case.
