The striker took possession and marched forward 15 yards untouched, surrounded by no fewer than four Pittsburgh defenders. He never touched the ball as he flew in the air, watching the long shot find the back of the net with ease and a 1-0 lead for the visitors. Defensively, FC Tulsa played stout all evening long, giving their goalkeeper Dane Jacomen, an Allderdice and Penn graduate, a rather easy evening, facing just one shot on goal. Jacomen spent his formative years in the Riverhounds development program before moving to DC United’s system while still in high school. He made several long runs over the last 30 minutes of play, launching several shots, but to no avail as Tulsa hung on for victory.
