Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate David Roth announced the end of his campaign on Tuesday.
The change in the key congressional race comes after weeks of pressure to drop out and coalesce the Democratic party’s efforts behind independent candidate and former Democratic state lawmaker Todd Achilles.
Both Roth and Achilles have been seeking to unseat three-term incumbent Republican Sen. Jim Risch, who has held his seat at the U.S. Capitol since 2009.
According to Federal Election Commission campaign finance data, Roth raised $8,641 while the Achilles campaign has amassed $692,000.
As the incumbent, Risch remains well ahead in campaign funding with $4.4 million.
