I realized that one can possess all the wealth in the world and still suffer from loneliness, lacking love and care. I hold this insight dear, much like the wisdom of Solomon, who asked God for an understanding heart, as recounted in last Sunday’s First Reading. I experienced this firsthand last week when my older brother fell ill and was hospitalized for a few days. Jesus’ miracle of “feeding the five thousand” often signifies its relationship to the Sacrament of the Eucharist that we celebrate week after week as a community. He feeds us with His Body and Blood to bring us close to Him, grant us life, and uplift our spirits.
