The new €15 million scheme, approved by the Spanish government and published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), is designed to help hospitality businesses replace ageing equipment with more energy-efficient alternatives, cutting running costs while reducing electricity consumption.
The grants are aimed at businesses in Spain’s hospitality sector, including bars, cafés, restaurants and accommodation providers such as hotels and guesthouses.
The government says the programme is particularly intended to help smaller businesses facing rising energy costs.
Each eligible establishment can receive between €5,000 and €11,000, with the grant covering up to 100% of the eligible investment.
However, one important restriction applies: the replacement of equipment with systems powered by fossil fuels, including natural gas, is specifically excluded from the programme.
