The Great Australian Shiraz Challenge has revealed its 2026 judging line-up and challenge sponsors. Fowles Wines will again host this year’s event, with entries opening online Monday 3 August and closing Friday 4 September. The challenge has been going for 32 years, with wines “classed and tasted based on climate and regional points of difference”. In 2016, individual state-based trophies and the award for ‘Best Shiraz Over 5 Years Old’ were introduced. In 2021, the ‘Best Organic Shiraz Trophy’ acknowledged winemakers’ commitment to the category, and a ‘Best Sparkling Shiraz’ class was even introduced in 2022.
