90-year-old Doug and Doris Grant, 88, met at a youth club in the Granite City back in 1954. And as they celebrated the platinum milestone on July 27, Doug recalls choosing Doris as his dance partner more than seven decades ago. Asked how other couples could stay together all these years, Doris said: “In marriage there is no boss. Just two weeks after getting married, Doug left for National Service, which lasted two years, where he spent most of his time in Cyprus. “It was our home away from home and we made some great friends with other long-term van owners,” Doris said.
