For the next two days, the Kentucky Museum will be home to the vibrant paintings and intricate textile work that make up an exhibit entitled Celebrating the Black Experience. Put together by the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage, the fifth Celebrating the Black Experience exhibit displays and uplifts a large range of artwork by Black artists. In line with its mission, the KCAAH sponsors the Celebrating the Black Experience exhibit, inviting artists to submit work that they feel encapsulates the annual exhibit’s name and theme. Burton said that while there are parameters for artist submissions, “we try not to define so strictly what the Black experience is.” “The Black experience or the human experience…is that connection between the masculine and feminine, finding the balance between that,” Bryant said.
