The Special Needs Senior Dog Sanctuary, in Stamford, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to caring for abandoned and medically fragile senior dogs, is seeking emergency community support after a devastating flash flood on July 21 destroyed the lower level where 13 senior dogs live and receive daily care. A flash flood devastated the sanctuary, when it filled with water and destroyed the space where the senior dogs live, heal, and receive daily care. The Special Needs Senior Dog Sanctuary has cared for abandoned, neglected, and medically fragile senior dogs since 2012. Founded 14 years ago with one dog named Chester, Special Needs Senior Dog Sanctuary, a Stamford-based nonprofit, provides lifelong care, comfort, and dignity to senior dogs that have been abandoned or require extensive medical care.
