This came amidst allegations that the abductors threatened to marry the “beautiful” female captives and kill the others. He appealed to the Kwara State government, the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the captives, saying families had exhausted virtually every available option without success. He noted that every additional day in captivity exposed the victims to greater danger and untold hardship. He said the National Assembly had consistently approved budgetary requests by security agencies to prosecute the fight against terrorism. The senator argued that the persistence of terrorism reflected the scale and complexity of the security challenge rather than inadequate funding.
